Taylor Meat Company started in 1947 as a small Texas butcher shop in downtown Taylor, Texas.

The estimated population of Taylor, in 1947, was 1300 people and our annual Rodeo and Fair was the event most people looked forward to all year long. Taylor is situated about 30 miles outside the Austin, Texas city limits and is deep in the heart of Texas. In the springtime there are bluebonnet flowers, Indian paint brushes and other Texas wildflowers as far as the eye can see. As well as being beautiful country, we have nearby lakes so we can go fishing when we are not processing and smoking the best Texas smoked meat products you've ever tasted.

You already know that we started as a little butcher shop in 1947 in downtown Taylor, but the rest of the story is Texans consider "Bar-B-Q'n" as a national Texas rite that is meant to be slow smoked, the longer the better, and enjoyed with the company of your friends and neighbors. Because of the butcher shop, we always had a supply of the best cuts of meats that Texas could supply. So When we were not fishing, hunting or working at the butcher shop, we were probably "Bar-B-Q'n". We would smoke our Briskets, Baby Back Ribs and fresh sausage's until we thought they were ready and then enjoy them with all our friends and neighbors were requesting to buy some of those smoked Ribs, Briskets and especially the sausages that they enjoyed with us. We have always felt as though our Smoked Brisket, Smoked Sausages and Smoked Ribs are the best that we can get here deep in the Heart of Texas.

Well, let's fast forward to today in Taylor, Texas. Population is a lot bigger, just more friends and neighbors. We are no longer in downtown Taylor, but in a large processing facility on the edge of town. We needed the extra room to accommodate the smoker rooms for the Smoked Meats. As many things have changed since 1947 to today, a few things will not change, we still look forward to the annual Rodeo/Fair and we still look forward to "Bar-B-Q'n" and enjoying it with a friend or two.
